"Hello & thank you for taking the time out to read my brief bio, I hope you enjoy your visit to my website. My name is Jerome Murray and I am a Wildlife, Landscape & Astro photographer & filmmaker as well as an active conservationist based out of Warwickshire & Norfolk.
My images are represented by 2 international photographic agencies ALAMY and at the Cornish Picture Library and my work is regularly published worldwide in magazines, books and calendars.
For as long as I can remember I have held a fascination and appreciation of all of our natural world formed undoubtedly in my early years by many hours spent accidently observing nature whilst fishing on our lakes and rivers.
It wasn't until into my 30's, I'm now 50 something that I started to channel that interest through photography, initially with landscapes, then wildlife & more recently astrophotography.
Again it was probably many hours spent without a bite on the riverbank which prepared me for my experiences in wildlife photography.......If I thought fishing could be slow at times I hadn't seen nothing yet!
For me though the pleasure comes from just being outside, honing my fieldcraft skills & enjoying those rare, unexpected, fleeting & magical encounters with nature when all those seemingly unproductive hours suddenly become worthwhile in an instant.
All the birds and animals you will see on this site are wild and in their native habitat, I do not photograph captive species. That brings with it a basic level of environmental responsibility & restraint, the wildlife must always come first. I have lost count of situations where I could have pushed the situation more to try and get the 'perfect' shot but have simply put the camera down and enjoyed the experience instead or walked away rather than cause the any wildlife undue stress or concern.
My interest in astrophotography started only a couple of years ago, although again I can remember being blown away by my first view of the Milky Way under truly dark skies when I was in my mid 30's.
Over the last year or so I've started to explore deep sky astrophotography................I always thought this was too technical for me and not possible from my suburban skies but perseverance, a great many YouTube videos later and too many cloudy skies to mention has left me enjoying this arm of photography in equal measure.
My greatest wish these days is not winning competitions or seeing how many images I can get published (although that is always nice) but hoping in a tiny way that my images and actions might inspire others to cherish and conserve our remaining native wildlife, wild places & dark skies.
