Owls must be one of if not the most popular wildlife subjects for photographers to image and I am no exception to this. There are 5 true British native species of Owls. Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, Short Eared Owl, Little Owl and Long-Eared Owl. Over the years I have spent too many hours to mention in the field trying to photograph all of these. There is one though, the Long-Eared Owl which until very recently always eluded me. In March 2023 though I was privilaged to see and photograph my first one in the wild. My favourite owl species is always the one I am photographing at that time as I love them all. From a Barn Owl quartering over rough grassland on a frosty Winters morning or a Short Eared Owl looking at you with piercing yellow eyes or a Little Owl observing you inquisitively from it's hunting perch to a Tawny Owl in the blackness of night I love them all. I hope you enjoy viewing these images and be sure to return regulary as Owls are one of my most photographed species.
