Landscapes
Landscape photography is where many photographers including me first started. It is arguably the cheapest and simplest genre of photography on this website to begin with. Wide angle lenses tend to be cheaper than long telephoto lenses needed for Wildlife and there is no need for expensive trackers as in Astrophotography. Every thing is done in manual so the autofocus of expensive lenses is pointless meaning you might be able to pick up perfectly good manual lenses second hand. In addition to a camera and wide angle lens, a decent tripod and head the only other things you need to start with are a shutter release cable and a good set of filters. The 5 things you need to consider when framing your image are good light, composition, a clean background, main subject and possibly some foreground interest.
So although it's not an area I devote too many hours to these days I still think some of the images I've taken over the years are worthy of inclusion here.
